Cohen Joins Senator Reid in Calling on FBI Director Comey to Resign

December 10, 2016

[WASHINGTON, DC] – Congressman Steve Cohen, Ranking Member of the House Judiciary Subcommittee on the Constitution and Civil Justice, today joined Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) in calling on FBI Director James Comey to resign after reports that the CIA secretly concluded Russia was trying to help Donald Trump win the presidency. Congressman Cohen first called on FBI Director Comey to resign in October after he made public comments on the investigation into Hillary Clinton's email server.

"I applaud Senate Minority Leader Harry Reid for also calling on FBI Director James Comey to resign after new information came to light that Director Comey may have known the CIA had secretly concluded that the Russians were trying to help Donald Trump win the presidency by hacking the DNC, DCCC and Hillary Clinton Campaign Chairman John Podesta's emails. This is unconscionable. Director Comey put an unnecessary, unfounded cloud over the presidential campaign during its final two weeks. Reliable sources have said he had information that the Russians were interfering with the election and didn't give the American people notice. I am proud to join Senator Reid in calling on Director Comey to resign. I will also be calling on House Judiciary Chairman Bob Goodlatte to hold hearings on the Russian influence in our elections and the actions of FBI Director Comey."
