MEMPHIS – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that his highest priorities will be included in the Labor, Health and Human Services, Education and Related Agencies appropriations bill when it is considered on the House floor in the coming weeks.

Specifically, the measure includes report language supporting his Diversity Advancements in Accelerated Academic Programs (DAAAP) Act, aimed at creating equity offices in state departments of education and local education agencies to encourage programs to improve diversity in Advanced Placement and Gifted and Talented Programs. The bill will also include funding for Congressman Cohen's efforts in Tourette's Syndrome research and polio eradication programs.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

"I'm pleased the Subcommittee agreed to invest in fairness and diversity in programs for our most talented students and that it sees the wisdom in fully supporting Tourette's Syndrome research and polio eradication efforts. These are important investments in our future."
