Congressman Cohen Observes Holocaust Remembrance Day

May 1, 2019

Yom HaShoah begins at sundown today

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today recognized Yom HaShoah, Holocaust Remembrance Day, with his Congressional colleagues. The observance begins at sundown today. As a state senator, Cohen sponsored, and the Tennessee General Assembly passed, legislation to create the Tennessee Holocaust Commission. Cohen served as an ex-officio member of the commission during his tenure in the state senate. In Congress, Cohen has been a consistent supporter of legislation and other Congressional efforts to remember those lost in the Holocaust.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

"Every year we remember the darkest days in history by thinking of those lost in the Holocaust and vowing ‘never again.' As another Yom HaShoah begins, let us pledge our enduring commitment to a pluralistic society of democratic values that stands up to intolerance and discrimination in all its forms."
