Congressman Cohen Announces $9.9 Million Grant to St. Jude

Funding underwrites preclinical modeling for acute leukemia

WASHINGTON – Congressman Steve Cohen (TN-09) today announced that St. Jude Children's Research Hospital will be receiving a grant of $9,965,625 from the National Cancer Institute for research on experimental and preclinical modeling involving acute leukemia. The funding is part of a cooperative agreement with the specialized research facility.

Congressman Cohen made the following statement:

"This is an important grant supporting St. Jude's ongoing leukemia research and it is reflective of the significant advancements and treatments innovators at St. Jude work tirelessly to discover. I have consistently advocated for greater investments in medical research, and I am pleased this funding will support this outstanding hospital in Memphis. Keeping St. Jude strong is good for children and good for Memphis."

So far this year, St. Jude has received more than $24.9 million in federal grant funding.
