Smucker Supports Families, Small Businesses Impacted by Coronavirus

March 14, 2020

WASHINGTON –Today, Rep. Lloyd Smucker (PA-11) voted in favor of the bipartisan Families First Coronavirus Response Act.

"I am thankful that bipartisanship ruled the day in Washington—at least for today. This legislation offers relief to families and small businesses impacted by coronavirus. It builds on President Trump and his Administration's efforts to ensure small businesses continue to operate and retain their employees through flexible emergency and temporary paid leave programs.

It achieves President Trump's goal of free testing, expanding upon the private sector's work to ensure everyone who receives a test can do so without concern of cost. The legislation provides assistance for hard-working Americans, who may become ill, quarantined, or caring for others with coronavirus. While there is much work that remains to be done to ensure American's economy continues to thrive and our markets continue to climb, I am thankful my colleagues came together for this important first step," said Smucker.
