April 18, 2018

Washington, D.C. – As part of his ongoing efforts to combat the opioid epidemic in Pennsylvania and across the country, U.S. Rep. Lloyd Smucker (PA-16) wants to make his constituents aware of an important upcoming opportunity for them to help in this fight.

Rep. Smucker today announced that Saturday, April 28, 2018 is the Drug Enforcement Agency's (DEA) National Prescription Drug Take Back Day. Several locations in Pennsylvania's 16thCongressional District will serve as collection sites, giving an opportunity for constituents to dispose of prescription drugs in a safe and responsible way.

In a video announcing the effort, Rep. Smucker said:

"I think many of us would be surprised at the amount of unused medication that can be found in our homes. Too often, children are the ones that find them. We should take every precaution to be sure that they don't end up in the wrong hands. The best thing, of course, to do is to get rid of them in a responsible way."
