Kelly Advocates Phase One China Trade Agreement and Western Pennsylvania Steelmakers in Ways and Means Committee Hearing
Washington, D.C. - Today, the House Committee on Ways and Means held a hearing on the Phase One China trade agreement negotiated by President Trump and U.S. Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer.
Representative Mike Kelly (R-Pa.), a senior member of the committee, spoke in support of the new deal focusing primarily on the plight of steel companies like western Pennsylvania's Blair Steel and AK Steel as a result of China's unfair trade practices.
Notable excerpt from his remarks: "We will not be able to defend ourselves in the future if we don't have strong steel, and strong farms, and strong manufacturing. It's just a fact of life."

On Monday, February 24, Kelly visited AK Steel to discuss the fact that China is circumventing the Section 232 tariffs that have been imposed by the Trump Administration (photos below). While progress has been made to protect American steel, Kelly remains committed to working with President Trump to protect American workers and enhance America's national security.
