Medford, Ore. - On Wednesday, Representative Greg Walden took a tour of Timber Products to discuss possible changes in legislation that would balance the playing field in the timber industry.

Walden hopes to bring legislation to congress to improve industry trade deals and balance them fairly with countries around the world, but especially China.

"You got 800 to 850 jobs related to this industry right here just to this company, so this is important for our economy in the Rogue Valley and the surrounding areas that we grow these jobs and not let them get taken away from us unfairly," Walden said.

He added he plans to work with the Trump Administration to make sure timber jobs are brought back to the United States.

"They believe there's cheating going on here too," Walden said. "The Chinese have overtaken 54% of this hardwood market. It's not fair, it's not right. It's costing the U.S. jobs and I look forward to working with the Trump Administration to push back on the Chinese."
