Aria Code

After much anticipation, Aria Code—the Met’s acclaimed podcast collaboration with WQXR and WNYC studios—returns for a fourth season, guiding listeners through highlights from the Met’s 2023–2024 lineup, pairing beloved classics with investigations into modern masterpieces. Each episode of Aria Code, which The New Yorker hails as “elegantly constructed and effortlessly listenable,” explores the musical brilliance, dramatic power, and contemporary relevance of opera’s greatest arias through a signature combination of music and riveting storytelling, paired with Met performances by world-renowned opera stars.

Hosted once again by Grammy Award–winning musician, MacArthur “Genius” Fellow, and Pulitzer Prize–winning composer Rhiannon Giddens, Season Four features eight episodes, starting October 4 with an exploration of “This journey” from Jake Heggie’s Dead Man Walking, with commentary from the composer, mezzo-soprano Joyce DiDonato, and Sister Helen Prejean, whose memoir inspired the opera. The extraordinary lineup of artists for the new season also includes Diana Damrau, Ailyn Pérez, Matthew Polenzani, Will Liverman, and Clémentine Margaine.
