Jason Gomez's Funeral Costs

Donation protected
If you're reading this, then you're aware of the unfortunate truth; Jason Gomez has transitioned on July 2, 2022, at the young age of 25 years. Jason was a brother, a son, a friend, an organizer, and a kind soul who touched so many.

We want to express our deepest and sincerest condolences to Jason's family; we cannot begin to imagine what you're all going through. We are supporting Jason's legacy by raising funds to cover the cost of his transition so we're extremely grateful for any and every contribution.

It was exactly 8 years ago today that UPROSE had the blessing of a lifetime to have welcomed Jason, who at the age of 17 changed us all forever. Over the course of 8 years with UPROSE, Jason has accomplished what most of us can only dream of in a lifetime. He helped organize the People's Climate March in 2014, represented Brooklyn on a scientific expedition to the North Pole, was the first young person recognized by the Working Families Party, and has received countless recognitions/awards for his contributions to environmental justice in his pursuit to make the world a more equitable place for all, and so much more.

Though an accomplished young man on paper, if you met Jason, you’d know that Jason’s presence was the greatest gift of all. He was a selfless person who gave time to everyone he came across. If you were ever in need, Jason always had your back; he was truly one of those rare people that you could rely on for anything. He could brighten your day with the smallest gesture. The most amazing thing about Jason was how powerful and transformative he was. He was the glue that held many of us together. Jason had the will and determination to accomplish anything he set his sights on while facing many difficult challenges.

UPROSE and Sunset Park was always his home, and he never failed to warmly welcome and embrace people to make them feel included- he always had a “more the merrier” mindset, which made spending time with him feel natural. He had a special gift of walking into your life and giving you just what you needed. Jason was one of the most generous, thoughtful, and considerate people in the world. Jason had so much love to give and was known for putting his friends and family first no matter what.

Though his physical manifestation is no longer with us, his spirit, joy, laughter, strength, and energy live on forever. His heart and legacy will be remembered and celebrated every single day. Jason did more for the people he cared about than any of us will ever know and in true Jason fashion, he will continue to find ways to show us in the years to come.

We love you, Jason!
