New Hanover County Health and Human Services and the Sheriff’s Office will be conducting a public safety training exercise. This is a routine training to enhance our emergency preparedness and response capabilities.

👀 Expectations:
You might notice more activity in these areas during the drill, but there is no cause for concern.

Tonight the North Carolina Department of Transportation will begin closing all westbound lanes of the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge (towards Brunswick County) beginning at 7 pm with a slated reopening scheduled for the end of May.

Other changes include:

- Triple left turn lanes onto MLK Pkwy from N College
- No left turn at 421 S onto Hwy 74 (onto Isabel Holmes Bridge); traffic will detour towards the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge
- Signal timing changes at various intersections, including 3rd St onto Hwy 74 (toward Isabel Holmes Bridge)

Portion of N 3rd Street and several side streets will close

As a reminder, both *westbound* lanes of the Cape Fear Memorial Bridge will close on Monday, April 8 at 7 pm for the second half of the NCDOT bridge rehabilitation project. Westbound lanes are projected to remain closed until Memorial Day Weekend.

#NHCgov Veteran Services and Senior Resource Center offices will both close early today (2/6) for staff training and development.

Veteran Services will close at 12:30 pm and the SRC will close at 1 pm.

Both offices will resume regular hours on Wednesday, February 7.

If you have immediate needs for assistance regarding Veteran benefits, please contact the Wilmington office of the State Veteran Service Center at 919-664-1065. For healthcare related issues, please contact the VA clinic at 910-343-5300.
