MARCH 17: Board of Education approves Plan A for middle and high schools starting April 6
On March 17, the Pender County Board of Education approved a transition to Plan A learning for middle and high school students in accordance with the latest guidelines approved by the state. This plan will go into effect on April 6 with middle and high school students continuing to learn under the Plan B model until that time.
Like elementary students in Pender County now, Plan A learning for middle and high school students will be held on campus on Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday with a remote learning day on Wednesday. All students across all grade levels, including elementary school, have the opportunity to return to in-person learning on April 6. If a student chooses to be an online learner as of April 6, they must remain on that platform through the end of the current school year.
Masks will continue to be required for all students and staff when on school grounds or riding a school bus, unless they are eating and drinking. Social distancing measures will be in effect for stationary students when space allows and students will continue to practice social distancing when moving throughout a building when it is possible.
Current online learners have been sent an intent form to determine if they would like to return to in-person learning or remain in a virtual setting. This form must be returned by the end of the day on Sunday, March 21. Any current in-person learners who would like to transition to online learning will need to contact their school immediately.
Pender County Schools will provide additional updates to families as information becomes available. We ask all stakeholders to continue monitoring the district website and social media channels on Facebook and Twitter for the latest information.
