Bitty and Beau’s Coffee owner, employees visit White House

WASHINGTON, D.C. (WWAY) — A local coffee shop from Wilmington made a special visit to the White House this week.

The president mentioned Bitty and Beau’s Coffee last week during a press conference. Tuesday, the owner and some employees went to the White House for a visit.

Bitty and Beau’s Coffee shop owner Amy Wright posted on Facebook yesterday saying, “80% Of people with intellectual and developmental disabilities are unemployed. We can do better. Taking this message to the White House.”

The White House then posted a video of Michael Heup, a Bitty and Beau’s employee, speaking to the administration.

“At Bitty and Beaus we like to use the phrase called ‘not broken.’ That means me and all my amazing coworkers are not broken and we have lots to offer,” Heup said. “I know the great country of the united states is not broken either. ”

President Trump said the paycheck protection program allowed Amy Wright to keep all 120 workers on her payroll in all five shops. He stated that, in just two weeks, the SBA provided more than 1.6 million small businesses with over 340 billion dollars in federal aid.
