The community has parade for local woman who turns 100-years-old
NEW HANOVER COUNTY, NC (WWAY) — A Wilmington resident reached a milestone.
Rosalian Mills turned 100 on Friday, and she had a lot to say about how she felt.
“It’s my birthday. 100-years old,” Mills said.
She explained that there were no words to describe how she really felt.
“Reaching 100 is almost unbelievable. I don’t think many of us even know somebody who’s 100-years-old, but I carry on. I am calm about this,” Mills said.
The community showed up to give Mills a birthday parade.
As each person drove up to her house they stopped their cars to shower Mills with gifts and love.
Mills said despite COVID-19, she is thankful that her family and friends were still able to celebrate with her.
“The original plans we were to have a huge party in Dover, and a huge party down here, but this is very very special to me,’ Mills said.
Her great-granddaughter, Corynn Southard said there is a reason why she is not the only who recognizes her great-grandmother’s unforgettable spirit.
“Anytime that she would walk into any little family function or anything, from the day I was born I would just, everyone would lighten up. She is a ray of sunshine,” Southard said.
