Our 2024 Season!

Winter Play

Inherit the Wind

by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee
Directed by Michelle Schwantes

In this thrilling courtroom drama, a high school teacher stands on trial for the crime of teaching evolution in a 1920's Tennessee classroom. The case quickly becomes a national circus as big city lawyers, ambitious politicians, and reporters from all around the world descend on a sleepy small town that has already made up its mind. As the tension and the temperature ratchet higher and higher, titans of American freedom clash in this bold interpretation of one of the greatest pieces of 20th century theater.

“The portrait it draws of an explosive episode in American culture, vigorously written by Jerome Lawrence and Robert E. Lee, remains as fresh as it ever was. One of the most stirring plays in recent years… Bursting with vitality…Literature of the stage!” —The New York Times.
