Sandbags Available To Residents In Holly Hill, DeLand & Other Areas

Volusia Co., FL-As forecasters track Tropical Storm Colin, local preparations are underway. Some localities are offering residents sandbags to protect any areas prone to flooding.

New Smyrna Beach-City residents may pick up sandbags from 7:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday at the New Smyrna Beach Maintenance Operations Department, 124 Industrial Park Avenue.  Sand and bags will be provided. However, residents must bring shovels and fill their own bags.

There is a limit of 20 sandbags per household. Sandbags are free for New Smyrna Beach residents. Valid identification is required.

For more information on sandbags, citizens may call 386-424-2209 Monday during business hours.

Beginning Monday morning, City staff will begin staging pumps in flood-prone areas and re-checking and fueling equipment, including pumps and chain saws.

Ormond Beach-The City’s Public Works Department is open for City residents to pick up sand bags until 6:00 p.m. today.  Each household may receive 10 sand bags.  Residents must provide identification.

Sand bags can be picked up at the Public Works Department located at 501 N. Orchard Street, Ormond Beach.

Orange City-Orange City residents may pick up sandbags from 1 to 3 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. Monday, June 6, at the Waggin' Trail Dog Park, 1201 S. Leavitt Ave. Sand, bags and shovels will be provided. Residents must fill their own bags. There is a limit of 10 sandbags per household. For more information, call the Public Works Department at 386-775-5447.

Flagler Beach, FL-City Fire Department at 320 South Flagler Avenue has sand bags available for residents today and tomorrow.

City of Palm Coast, FL-A sandbag station is open at the Public Works yard at U.S. 1 and Wellfield Grade (just north of the FDOT weigh station) in Palm Coast.

Port Orange, FL – The City of Port Orange has sandbags and dirt available to the community while supplies last.   The bags and dirt are available at the City’s Fire Stations (see list below). Residents must bring shovels to fill their own bags.  Double-lined trash bags work just as well as sandbags.

  • Fire Station 71 - 4200 Ridgewood Avenue.
  • Fire Station 72 - 6027 Central Park Boulevard.
  • Fire Station 73 - 1090 City Center Boulevard.
  • Fire Station 74 - 6701 Airport Road.
  • Fire Station 75 - 1701 Town West Boulevard.

Deltona, FL-The City of Deltona has sandbags available at Festival Park, 191 Howland Blvd. City staff will provide 10 filled bags per resident; another 10 empty bags will be available for residents to fill. Residents who want to fill their own should bring a shovel.

Edgewater, FL-Four locations throughout Edgewater have sand piles staged for residents to access.  Sandbags are not provided. Residents must provide their own bags. Bags may be purchased at local home supply centers or double bagged; heavy duty garbage bags may be used. Residents should also bring their own shovels. The locations are:

  • Fire Station 57 - 2628 Hibiscus Drive.
  • Veterans Park - 1811 South Riverside Drive.
  • Mango Tree Lake - 901 Mango Tree Drive.
  • Airpark staging area - 1898 Airpark Road.

DeLand, FL-The City of DeLand has setup a staging area for residents to fill sandbags. The city is providing sand and bags in the parking lot on Hubbard Avenue, south of the Conrad Park Baseball stadium. Residents should bring shovels and may fill and take up to 10 bags. The staging area will be open until 5 p.m. Monday.

Holly Hill, FL-The City of Holy Hill has sand and sandbags at 459 LPGA Blvd., at the intersection of Alta Drive and LPGA Boulevard. The sandbags are free to Holly Hill residents. Residents must bring shovels. For information, residents may call the Public Works Department at 386-248-9463 during

normal business hours.

Volusia County- Volusia County is offering free pre-filled sandbags until 4 p.m. at the Volusia County Correctional Facility, 1354 Indian Lake Road, Daytona Beach. Each resident may receive 10 bags.
