Larson Votes for Resolution Recognizing Armenian Genocide

October 29, 2019

Applauds Rep. Anna Eshoo for her Leadership

Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) voted for H.Res. 296, a bipartisan resolution formally recognizing the Armenian Genocide.

"The Armenian Genocide continues to be denied by people around the globe and I'm proud to vote today to raise awareness of this atrocity. For the past 27 years, Representative Anna Eshoo had helped lead the fight to make this a reality and was the original sponsor of the legislation. We often say that Anna Eshoo is the sixth member of the Connecticut House Delegation. Eshoo (originally from New Britain) has fought tirelessly to recognize the deliberate annihilation of 1.5 million Armenians and other minorities by the Ottoman Empire. As Rep. Eshoo said on the floor: today, we remember," said Larson. "I would also like to recognize the tireless efforts of the families in Connecticut of Armenian descent including, the late Connecticut Secretary of State Julia Tashjian, the late former Deputy East Hartford Mayor Harry Egazarian, and the Garabedian family of East Hartford."
