Larson Highlights Failure of GOP Tax Law

February 11, 2020

Washington, D.C. – Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) highlighted how the GOP Tax Law left the middle-class, millennials, women, and people of color behind during a Ways and Means Committee hearing.

"Everyone likes tax cuts, but not when the majority of the Republican tax law benefitted the wealthiest one-percent and corporations. Tax cuts for the wealthy shouldn't come at the expense of everyday working people. Republicans and President Trump are touting how well people's 401ks are doing, but 54 percent of Americans and 68 percent of millennials do not have employer retirement plans, all they have is Social Security. Social Security is an equalizer and helps grow our economy, unlike tax cuts for the wealthy," said Larson.
