NDAA Vote Puts “Our Troops Before Politics,” Westerman says

November 5, 2015

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON – Congressman Bruce Westerman (AR-04) issued the following statement Thursday (Nov. 5) upon House passage of S. 1356, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2016:

"President Obama's veto of the NDAA put our national security at risk. His actions put petty politics ahead of national defense and showed a lack of leadership," Westerman said. "Today's vote is another attempt by Congress to provide for our national defense, properly support our soldiers and keep Americans safe at home and abroad. The signing of the NDAA would send a strong signal to our military this Veteran's Day that Washington will always put our troops before politics. It is my hope the president signs this latest attempt by Congress to fund the military."

S. 1356 passed the House by a vote of 370 Yeas, 58 Nays.
