Westerman Condemns South Carolina Shooting

June 18, 2015

Worshipers were gathering "to pray and fellowship, like so many of us do"

FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE

WASHINGTON – Congressman Bruce Westerman (R-Hot Springs)issued the following statement following the mass shooting at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina, which left nine people dead:

"My thoughts and prayers are with the families of those lost in last night's shooting in Charleston. These fellow American citizens were gathering on a Wednesday night to pray and fellowship, like so many of us do, when their lives were taken in a senseless act. I condemn this act of mass murder and pray that the suspect is quickly found and made to face the consequences of his actions. I ask all Arkansans to remember their fellow Americans in South Carolina in prayer."
