Womack Statement on FAA Reauthorization

Washington, DC – September 26, 2018….Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) today released the following statement on the passage of H.R. 302, the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) Reauthorization Act of 2018. The bill is a bipartisan, five-year authorization and modernization of essential aviation infrastructure priorities. This is the first time that Congress has approved a five-year FAA reauthorization bill since 1982.

“Strengthening and modernizing U.S. aviation infrastructure is crucial to ensuring that our system meets 21st century demands. This long-term FAA reauthorization brings needed certainty to the aeronautical industry, helping to enhance the security and leadership of our transportation sector. With today’s vote, we are prioritizing passenger safety and experience, making investments in our airports, and promoting job growth and economic competitiveness. Additionally, the bill also includes provisions to help communities across the nation better prepare for and respond to natural disasters. Americans and Arkansans rely on air travel for personal and business reasons each day, and I’m pleased that we’ve passed legislation to make our skies safer and more reliable for all.”

Congressman Steve Womack (AR-3) has represented Arkansas’s Third Congressional District since 2011. He serves as the Chairman of the House Committee on the Budget and is a member of the House Appropriations defense, military construction-veterans affairs, and labor-health and human services subcommittees. Additionally, he co-chairs the Joint Select Committee on Budget and Appropriations Process Reform.
