Back in March we told you about 11th and 12th grade engineering students from Satsuma High School who were working to create a computer classroom for their sister school in Honduras. Now, the container classroom is finally finished and ready for it’s new home.

“It’s really exciting and it’s just an amazing opportunity that I’m so glad the principal was able to give us,” said Junior Hayla Smith.

The container in Satsuma is just one of four container classrooms from around Alabama, where schools have worked for months to build different classrooms. The other schools participating in this project are schools in Alabaster, Eufaula, and Bibb County.

All four of these container classrooms will go toward building this school in Honduras.

“They wanted these kids to have the same experience that they have in our SolidWorks lab and to be able to do and accomplish the same things they are accomplishing every day,” added Principal Josh Verkouille.

Verkouille adds he is proud of his students and the months of hard work they poured into this project.

Satsuma High School will send two students and a teacher down to Honduras in about two weeks to help set-up the classroom and explain to the teachers how to run all of the programs.
