Veteran Recognition Ceremony & Art Show
In celebration of Veterans Day, the Maine Bureau of Veterans' Services (MBVS), the VA Maine Healthcare System and the Maine Arts Commission will be hosting a Recognition Ceremony and Art Show at the Maine State House on Friday, November 8th 2019.
In 2018, MBVS worked with a Maine artist to design the State of Maine's "Honorable Service Coin" and plaque. As part of the State's dedicated recognition program, the Bureau will present the newly designed coin, along with a certificate of appreciation, to Maine veterans in recognition of their service and sacrifice during the event. This ceremony will be the first presentation of the new coin and the artist responsible for its creation will be in attendance.
All veterans will be recognized with a certificate and coin, no matter their period of service. Veterans wishing to attend should register through the Eventbrite registration page and contact the Maine Bureau of Veterans' Services to ensure we have a copy of your DD214.
Only veterans who RSVP will receive recognition at the ceremony on November 8th.
The Maine Arts Commission will showcase the artwork of almost 30 veterans, and art will be on display in the halls of the State House all month long.
If you are a veteran who would like to be recognized, or if you have a friend or loved one that should be recognized for their service, please contact Melissa Willette at melissa.willette@maine.gov or 207-430-6035.
