Maine Disabled Veterans Controlled Moose Hunt
As in years' past, we are again partnering with the Maine Department of Inland Fisheries and Wildlife (MDIFW) and Smoldering Lake Outfitters to provide permits, individual guides for the hunters, and all equipment for the Hunt. MDIFW has allocated moose hunting permits for disabled veterans who are residents of Maine - and a small group of non-resident disabled veterans - to participate in the Maine Disabled Controlled Moose Hunt (MDVCMH). This Hunt is not like the regular MDIFW moose lottery, as it requires each hunter to team up with a registered Maine Guide who has specific training for the Controlled Moose Hunt. All hunts will take place on farm land specified by MDIFW. Please note that this is a one-time Hunt. If you have ever tagged a moose through the Maine Disabled Veterans Controlled Moose Hunt, you are ineligible to participate in the MDVCMH again.
Disabled Veteran Donated Moose Permit
When a permit holder cannot utilize their Maine moose permit, Maine Dept. of Inland Fisheries & Wildlife allows the original permit holder to donate their permit to a qualifying disabled veteran. The permit holder may transfer the permit to a disabled veteran they personally know or request that MDIFW identify a disabled veteran by working with Maine Bureau of Veteran Services. The disabled veteran must have either a Disabled Veterans Hunting License issued by MDIFW or provide documentation from the Veterans Administration specifically stating that they are a veteran with service-connected disability evaluating at 50% or more. The permit being donated will be the same permit the disabled veteran receives. It will be for the same WMD, hunting week and type (antlered or antlerless).
Please select one of the following choices: I would like to be considered only for the Maine Disabled Veterans Controlled Moose Hunt, I would like to be considered only for a Donated Permit to a Disabled Veteran, I would like to be considered for both.
